The making of World's Tallest TV tower
At 600m high the Guangzhou Sightseeing and TV Tower is the tallest television tower on earth and among the world's top ten tallest buildings. Tough enough to withstand typhoon, earthquake and other assaults from Mother Nature, this elegant building forced a rewrite of the rule books. A deceptively simple twist in the middle of the main 450m tower sets this super tall building in a mega class of its own and, proves a test of massive proportions for the team responsible for breathing life into the vision of Dutch architects Mark Hemel and Barbara Kuit.

Hemel in Guangzhou
Onder regie van Peter Franken en Bert Oosterveld maakt Doc.Eye de documentaire "Hemel in Guangzhou". De Nederlandstalige documentaire toont de architect Mark Hemel, die in 2004 smane met zijn partner Barbara Kuit een prijsvraag won voor het ontwerp van de Chinese Guangzhou TV toren. In twaalf jaar tijd is dit het eerste grote project dat hun bureau realiseert. De documentaire volgt het complexe proces dat de architect doormaakt bij de realisatie van de op een na hoogste toren ter wereld en brengt de obstakels in beeld die de architect hierbij tegenkomt. Verder laat de film de visie van Hemel op architectuur zien en toont het een werkwijze die is geïnspireerd op natuurlijke structuren en de efficiënte vormgeving ervan.
